The Bellingen Shire Youth Service is the only free local support service working with young people between the ages of 12 to 18 years, and their families.

The service works in conjunction with other groups and organisations in the local community to provide a service that is responsive, flexible, and inclusive.

Our Youth Services is a provider of the Targeted Earlier Intervention (TEI) program through funding from NSW Communities and Justice.

Our Youth Caseworkers are skilled and available to deliver and advise on the following:

- General counselling,

- Advocacy, advice, and referrals

- Sexual health,

- Health and wellbeing, including issues around depression and anxiety,

- Bullying and abuse,

- Relationships,

- Friendship issues,

- Issues with School,

- Education pathways,

- Employment and Centrelink,

- Parenting,

- Youth development,

- Programs and workshops,

Our Youth Case Workers are located at the Bellingen Youth Hub, and are available Monday to Friday 9:30am to 5:30pm. However they can arrange to meet you in person in Dorrigo, Urunga, and surrounding areas.

The Youth Hub also offers a Free Youth Clinic on Thursdays between 2:00 - 5:00pm. Here you can discuss your issue in confidence with a doctor or psychologist.

Pride Club is a youth support group co-ordinated by Bellingen Nambucca Youth Services for same-sex attracted and gender diverse young people aged 12-21.

The group aims to create inclusive friendship connections, a sense of belonging, and a safe space for young people.

BNYS recognises that a range of factors increase mental health risks for LGBT+ young people. These include shame and self-hatred, depression and anxiety, minority stress, accumulation of traumatic micro aggressions from homophobic and transphobic behaviours, as well as social isolation and family conflict.

The Dorrigo Youth Centre operates an after-school Drop-In Program on Wednesdays from 3:00-5:00pm, and once a month on a Friday.

The Drop-In Program is a fun safe space where young people can hang out, play games, create art, access wifi and printing, watch movies, share meals, and engage with supportive adult mentors.

Supported by a BSYS Youth caseworker and a dedicated group of local volunteers, the group has lots of room to grow and develop.
